Supernatural Convention News

Posted in Uncategorized  by ivy No Comments

The Creation Cons in Chicago and Vancouver are near selling out so if you plan to attend and don’t have tickets yet, you should probably get those as soon as possible. Visit here for more information or to purchase tickets.

In other news, Supernatural fans are working on getting a convention in Spain. Here is some information that was recently e-mailed to me.

Hello,

My name is Laura, and I am a Spanish Supernatural fan. We are trying to set up a Con here, in Spain. We’ve successfully gone past most steps and we now need all the help we can get in order to make people know about the Rising Con.

That’s why KLZ Events started a forum, in several languages, where people can give ideas about what they expect in the con, enter competitions, etc.

We thought it would be an honor to have a little section or ad on your site, to let English speaking fans know about the project.

Here are the links to the forum and to the KLZ Events site:

Super Cool KNTR Auction

Posted in Uncategorized  by ivy No Comments

Hey, guys. This Kids Need to Read auction is so cool I almost didn’t want to tell you about it so that there would be a better chance that I could have it to myself (you can insert diabolical laughter here). But, I decided that since I’m broke anyway, maybe one of you guys would appreciate some memorabilia from one of my favorite authors of all time.

Kids Need to Read Auctions has a treat for all fans of author, Neil Gaiman. Neil has generously given KNTR an autographed copy of the original motion picture soundtrack of the big screen adaptation of his popular book, Coraline! As if that weren’t enough, he also donated an autographed Coraline t-shirt (adult size extra large)! Neil wrote a little note on the shirt that says, “Sweet Dreams”, along with his signature.

Coraline follows the quirky adventures of a brave young girl who stumbles into an eerie, alternate version of her life. At first, her other life appears to be an improvement, but the situation turns ominous and Coraline must find a way to escape and save her family. Featuring a clever and determined heroine, Coraline is highly recommended for middle readers on up who enjoy scary stories.

Our auction items will put a smile on the face of any fan of the book or the movie, but remember… be careful what you wish for!

Support Supernatural Fans in other Countries

Posted in Uncategorized  by ivy No Comments

I’ve recently received some e-mails from some Supernatural fans outside the United States who would really like our help in bringing a Supernatural convention to their neck of the woods. Here is a copy of an e-mail and some information I received from Roxana in Argentina:

My name is Roxana and the creator of the Facebook Group for the supernatural convention Project placed in Buenos Aires Argentina, But it includes all the central and south American countries and those Spanish speaking countries: Mexico, Belice, Guatemala, Cuba, Salvador, Haiti, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Honduras, Nicaragua , Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela , Colombia, Guyana, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina y Spain.

I am from CF, in Buenos Aires Argentina, my co-workers are from La Plata, Bs As, , Argentina(Soledad Rodriguez), Colombia(Orlando Florida) (Sandra), Colombia (Juanita) y Venezuela (Elia Moreno).
This idea came up after Jared’s visit to Argentina last December (A well known event which, unfortunately, because of the lack of organization and good behavior at his arrival, was not well accepted internationally. This episode has badly affected the way other countries see us as a Latin America country which loves the show). However, it has helped to show that there are many people who do love and know the show and the crew (this was unknown by them). Then, it may be, now, harder to show that we are able to organize, host and carry out this Project.
After Jared Left our country, a lot of people, from Spanish speaking countries, came to me, including Brazil, showing their wish and need to meet their favorite actors and get any information of material, of which we have not access to.

Knowing about Season 5th, plus that Australia and England have achieved their first convention in April and May respectably, has made us feel stronger to fulfill this dream: we do know how hard it’ll be, it will require a lot of effort, dedication and time, but we still feel that we can make it happen.

That is why, your collaboration will be needed and we wanted to know if you can help us promoting our movement.
We do not belong to any fans club, but we try to unify all the forums, fans groups, any movements and fans all over the World to grow and complete this Project.

We are open to any suggestion, collaboration, ideas, debates, whatever you need to help this come true and show that we can come together and that there are thousand fans here looking forward the place they deserve.

Here we let some links for you to see what we have been doing, plus, in less than a week we have gathered about 500 signatures from people all over the world. Very soon, we will post a video of the convention on youtube and an official channel on myspace.

Also, fans in Romania are hoping for our support. Here’s a copy of an article by Alice Jester that contains a link to a petition:

I am writing to thank you a lot for your support. As you already knowwe, the Europeans from South-East love the show and we want a convention for us, too. There is already one in England but is far and really expensive and we cannot make it. So, we are now trying to obtain a convention in Italy, in Rome (a very romantic city) and for that we joined forces with Italy, having one purpose in mind: a Supernatural convention in Italy, spring of 2010.

For the moment we don’t have a lot of information to give you, I mean dates, numbers, etc. We just started a petition online, a couple of days ago and we already have more than 200 signatures. Our goal is to obtain around 1000 and it seems that we can make it. The answer was great not only from Italians or Romanians, but the Polish, Germans, Hungarians, Bulgarians and the Greeks are also eager to participate.

petition: http://www.petitiononline.com/jusbello/petition.html .

The proposed convention‘s name is Jusinbello Convention, and they already have a Facebook page and a website.

Our official mail address for the convention is jusinbello.convention@gmail.com and we already received messages from fans all around Europe.

Kids Need to Read Calendar Project

Posted in Uncategorized  by ivy No Comments

Hey everybody!

This is your team leader asking all of you lovely supernatural fans to help out our favorite charity. Kids Need to Read, a children’s literacy program, is working on a 2010 calendar project. It’s a really cool calendar that’s being done on a volunteer basis by a professional photographer in Arizona. You can see a sample shot on their website or their myspace. They are asking for donations to help with the project. If we can collectively donate at least $300, Team Winchester will be listed as a sponsor on the calendar. This would not only be great publicity for Team Winchester and by extension Supernatural, but it would also be a great way to help out a good cause. If you are able to help, please click on the link to KNTR’s website and click the donate button. Make sure to mention that you are a part of Team Winchester by putting Team Winchester under the special instructions to the seller box on the Paypal page before you confirm your donation. If you have any questions about this, don’t hesitate to ask. Thanks everyone!

You can help Kids Need to Read!

Posted in Uncategorized  by ivy No Comments

The creator of our favorite charity, Kids Need to Read, is releasing the third book in his Softwire series this month, Wormhole Pirates on Orbis 3. To celebrate, they are having a release party at the Barnes and Noble store in Oceanside, California, on April 18th from 3:00-5:00 pm. If you can go, I highly recommend it. Friends of Kids Need to Read, Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Castle) and Alan Tudyk (Firefly, A Knight’s Tale) will be there, as will the author himself. Best of all, Barnes and Noble is going to donate up to 25% of store-wide proceeds from sales during the party to KNTR when you use their special coupon. Check out the KNTR website for more information.
But that’s not all! If you want to help KNTR, but can’t make it to California, there’s a way for you to get in on this awesome event. Go to ANY Barnes and Noble between April 18th and the 24th with a KNTR coupon and 25% of what you purchase will help the kids. It doesn’t even matter what you buy! Here’s the latest link for information and the printable coupon. Please help out this awesome charity.
